This utility contains the only official version for Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 3400C Driver for Windows XP/7/Vista/8/8.1/10 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I'm probably lucky with tis scanner as it was working also with Vista and W7. Probably there is some differences with the french windows and the windows you installed. VueScan is compatible with the HP ScanJet 3400c on Windows x86 and Windows x64. You need to install the driver to use this scanner on Windows x86 and Windows x64. VueScan uses a plugin library that's installed with the HP drivers to talk to this scanner, and doesn't work with this scanner without this plugin library. HP have - typically! - not brought out a driver for Vista for my scanner - I suppose that it's in the logic of 'if you have it more than 3 years you ought to change it' - however, this scanner worked fine till I got my new PC and Vista. Can anyone help with this? I reckon Microsoft have a moral obligation to produce the drivers for these machines since it's their operating system that messed things up in the first place, however the fact remains that I do need to use my scanner and I need help setting it up. I did try running the software as administrator and checked the 'run in xp mode ' option but that didn't work either.
